What we service

Across the whole Thermador line

Thermador kitchens are usually specified as a set, so one call often turns into a look at three appliances — in a Brookhaven remodel or a new build in Johns Creek alike. That is the same visit.

Identify yours

Which line is in your kitchen

Thermador splits by look rather than by capability, so two appliances with different handles can be the same machine underneath. The handle is the quickest tell.

Masterpiece Collection

Slim brushed stainless handles and a modern, low-key look. This is the line the Freedom Induction cooktop belongs to.

Professional Collection

Heavier handles and the commercial look. Pro Harmony and Pro Grand ranges sit here, along with the bolder ventilation.

Freedom refrigeration

Sold as separate columns rather than one appliance. Fresh food, freezer and wine each arrive as their own unit with their own model and serial number.

Star Burner

The star-shaped burner is one of the brand's signature features. Newer cooktops raise it onto a pedestal base, which changes how the ports are cleaned and serviced.

The part that matters

A column is an appliance, not a compartment

This one distinction changes the diagnosis, the part order and the bill.

Your refrigerator may be three refrigerators.

A Freedom refrigeration wall usually looks like one large appliance behind matching panels. It is not. Fresh food, freezer and wine are separate columns, each with its own sealed system, its own controls and its own serial number — bolted together and paneled to read as one piece.

That is why the freezer column can fail while the fresh food column beside it never moves off its set point, and why the first thing we ask for is the serial number of the column that is actually misbehaving. Ordering against the wrong one of the three is the most common way a Thermador repair turns into two visits.

Each column stands alone

Its own compressor, evaporator, controls and serial number. One failing says nothing about its neighbor.

Serial number per column

Not per wall. Read it from the unit that is misbehaving, inside the door frame.

Inside the circuit

Leaks, restrictions and compressor work on a column. EPA 608 only — federal law, not preference.

Panels come off carefully

Columns are aligned to each other as well as to the cabinetry. Refit is part of the job.

Common faults

Symptom first, then the likely part

Pick the line closest to what you see and mention it when you call — the parts that ride along are chosen from it.

What you see What it usually is

One column warm, the one beside it still cold

Separate sealed systems — the fault is in the warm column only

Column runs constantly and never cycles off

Condenser starved of air, or a loss of charge

Frost at the back of the fresh food column

Defrost heater or thermostat

Wine column drifting off its zone temperature

Door seal, zone damper or thermostat

Panel-ready door no longer aligned with its neighbor

Hinge or door closer, not the cabinetry

The table gives the usual finding, not a diagnosis. On a Freedom wall the first question is which column, the second is part or sealed system — and the answer to the second changes the conversation about cost.

If you smell gas near a Thermador rangetop or range, leave the knobs and the lights alone, step outside and call 911 or your gas utility. That call comes before ours, every time.

Say which column or burner is acting up, and what it does. We will tell you what that usually points to.

Parts and timing

What decides the wait on a Thermador

Common wear items are usually easy to source; specific parts are ordered against the model and serial number.

Wear items

Igniters, burner caps and ports, thermistors, spray arms, gaskets. Often available quickly; you get the timeline before the visit.

Boards and modules

Control boards, TFT displays, zeolite units. Ordered against the model and serial of the individual appliance.

Sealed system components

Compressors, evaporators, driers on refrigeration columns. The longest wait of the three, and a longer visit.

Three columns, three numbers

On a Freedom wall, give us the serial from the column that is actually failing. Ordering against the wrong one is what turns a single visit into two.

Questions

Asked about Thermador

Warranty, insurance and booking questions are answered on the home page. These come up with Thermador in particular.

Are you an authorized Thermador service center?

No. We are independent, with no affiliation to or authorization from BSH or Thermador. If the appliance is still inside its factory warranty, the repair belongs with the manufacturer's own service network — use that first. Once the warranty has expired, we take it on.

My freezer column failed. Does the fresh food column need work too?

Almost never. They are separate appliances that happen to be paneled as one. Each has its own sealed system and controls, so a failure in one carries no implication for the other.

Which serial number do you need?

The one from the column that is misbehaving, not the kitchen as a whole. It is inside the door frame. On a three-column wall there are three, and ordering against the wrong one costs you a second visit.

My dishes are coming out wet. Is the heating element gone?

Probably not. Sapphire dishwashers dry with zeolite, a mineral that gives off heat as it absorbs moisture, rather than with a conventional heating element. When drying fails it is usually the zeolite unit or its fan — a different part and a different repair.

Is the Star Burner harder to service than a normal burner?

Not harder, but different. The flame runs out along the arms of the star, so the ports clog in a pattern a round burner does not have. On newer pedestal cooktops the burner lifts clear of the base, which makes the cleaning easier and the diagnosis quicker.
